Restarting LANDesk 9.5 Install

Problem:

9.5 Installation needs to be restarted.

 

 

Cause:

Here are just a few examples of potential causes:

  1. SQL connectivity issues
  2. Microsoft Alternate Data Streams
  3. Install done via Remote Desktop without the admin switch [(start > run > "mstsc /admin") this creates a console session as opposed to a terminal session]

 

Solution:

***NOTE***

Always make sure you have a backup before performing actions on a production Core.

Example:

-C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\Shared Files\Keys

-Database

 

Option 1:

  1. Rename the following files:
    1. C:\ProgramData\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\Install\9.50\setup.xml
    2. C:\ProgramData\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\Install\9.50\setup.xml.bak

 

Option 2:(this encompasses option 1)

  1. uninstallwinclient.exe /noreboot
  2. Add\Remove programs: Remove any LANDesk entries
  3. Delete Folders: C:\Programdata\LANDesk\         -C:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk -InstallDrive:\Program Files (x86)\LANDesk
  4. Remove from registry:
    1. HKLM\software\LANDesk
    2. HKLM\software\wow6432node\landesk
    3. HKLM\software\wow6432node\intel\landesk
  5. Remove the IIS Role
  6. Reboot

 

 

Option 3:(Least likely to see other issues)

  1.   Start with a clean OS (revert snapshot or reload OS)
